It’s that time of year when the world celebrates the end of the Carnival season by eating rich fatty foods and partying hard before entering a period of fasting. If you were late tuning in this morning, it’s Mardi Gras. Although most of us are still stuck in the office on this day and the holiday isn’t so widely celebrated here in Canada, here are some tips for how to have an extravagant make the best of you Shrove Tuesday:
~*~ Have something deep-fried or super sweet for breakfast. This will give you the sugar high you need today, and make you feel gross so that you can stick to your promise of hitting the gym tomorrow.
~*~Drink something caffeinated. This will help get you pumped up for the day’s festivities.
~*~ Dress as a jester and tell jokes on the street during the morning rush. Be sure to bring an extra cap with you, your act may score you some spare change!
~*~ Wear brightly coloured clothes and makeup to the office. This will make you feel like you’re a hot Brazilian dancer. Alternatively, if you’re an introvert, embrace your mysterious side and wear a mask to the office. Dressing up will definitely help brighten everyone’s spirits.
~*~ Get the party bumping with some sick beats.
~*~ Hand out some party swag. Give out fun loot bags filled with candy, puzzles, little games and beads to all of your colleagues.
~*~ As a morning workout, get everyone at the office to form a congo line and dance around. This will get people in the party mood.
~*~ Arm wrestle a colleague at lunch. It will make you feel powerful (if you win).
~*~ On your lunch hour, hand out beads to construction workers who flash you.
~*~ If someone tries to argue with you, challenge them to a jousting match. Since jousting is so outdated, chances are your opponent will be so impressed that you practice the art of jousting that he/she will back down after you merely state the challenge. Thus, he/she will never know that you were bluffing.
~*~ Play musical (office chairs). Winner gets to be employee of the month!
~*~ When the work day is done, go out for some Brazilian food!
~*~ Shake it! Go out dancing!
~*~ At the end of the night, do something you wouldn’t normally do. Ask someone out, drink some tequila, take the wrong bus home, you never know where the Magic of Mardi Gras could take you…
